Made it through the Santa face on Sock #1 (of 4)

Hoping #2,3 & 4 go quite a bit quicker than this first one!

Trying this in just 2 colors this time & liking it a lot

Trying this in just 2 colors this time & liking it a lot

Carrying the 2 colors up the side, since I plan to crochet a border when I get it square.  Way nicer than the last one I did, with 9 colors, and ends absolutely all over the place.  Does anybody enjoy weaving in ends?

And, as always there is a pair of socks on the needles……..but no picture of these yet.  Up to the heel flap on Sock #1 so far.  A multi colored, self striping yarn & the socks are for ME!  (very few people on my Sock Worthy List)

Off the Hook

Finished the knitting & now 'off the hook' with the crocheted border complete

Finished the knitting & now ‘off the hook’ with the crocheted border complete

All this needs now, is a little bit of ribbon, to weave through the eyelet design.  Tried to find a dusty, cornflower blue, but there was nothing even close.  So, pale blue it is.  This is the same design as this one.  Can’t seem to get more than one of these in the shop.  They are so lightweight, they work with car seats and strollers, and pretty enough to work well for baby pictures and christenings.

As soon as the ribbon gets here, this blanket will be ready for pictures and then it’s all ready to head to a new home.

Garden Update

First of the berries!

First of the berries!

Not quite enough to make shortcake with yet……          The plants are starting to bloom, the bed is filling in and I’m even remembering to water!

Our little patch is not large enough to really DO anything with the berries but pick & enjoy!

Tastes like summer!

Roses & Ruffles in New Summer Wrap

I have had this piece of fabric for a long time. I pulled it out of my ‘stash’ months ago and kept moving it around the studio.   I knew what I wanted to make, I just needed to wait for a bit of time and a clear cutting table to lay it out.

I have a thing for roses…..as well as ruffles and when they are combined, I am quite happy!  This scarf is a repeat of one I had in my shop last year, same design, different fabric.  Roses tho!  This was the week and here is the new scarf.

Roses & Ruffles by Stitchknit

Roses & Ruffles by Stitchknit

This design has a multiple personality, as this works really well as a scarf….obviously, but also works as a shawl due to the larger size.  A great addition to your travel wardrobe, acting as a wrap for cooler evenings.  If you’re headed to the beach, this works as a swimsuit cover up too, just tie around your hips and you’re all set!

The fabric is lightweight and silky, so it also will work as a dramatic tie on a summer hat.  Because of the ruffles running the length of the piece, this will work as a head wrap, sort of turban style too.

I have additional pictures posted here, along with the dimensions and complete description.

Connected Through Yarn

More Yarn at StitchknitI have always loved acquiring yarn in ways other than the typical.  Yesterday was no different!  I had inquired about some yarn for sale on Craigslist a long time ago, and had totally forgotten about it.  I got an email asking if I was still interested…………Well, what knitter isn’t interested in more yarn?  I’ve never met one!

Short story: The  yarn is now in my studio!  Favorite spool?  The white one on the top of the lavender.  It is a wool, silk blend that has a twist that looks shiny in certain light.  Love the feel of this one.  Then, there is that luscious lavender and some workhorse basic colors too.  Most are wool blends which will keep me in winter scarf/hat yarns for a couple seasons!

The rest of the story?  The woman selling the yarn asked if I was interested in fabric?  Well……..that led to a very cool connection. Her mother has been sewing professionally for decades & lives here in the same county. She & I have now been “introduced” on line, and I see great things down the road!  I have wanted to find someone to refer clients to, when my schedule was over-full (as it is now).  This woman has been wanting to transition from larger commercial orders to smaller/quicker jobs for individuals.  We’re both happy. The daughter who sold the yarn is happy.  Win, win, win.  Love it when things just come together!

Mystery in My Garden

I was given this plant, and at that time was told it was a Lady’s Slipper.  For years, I thought that was what it was.  I love it, and always know it is spring when it starts to bloom.

I took a picture to share, and thought I’d better look up some info on it, before posting here…….  And, it looks like this isn’t anything to do with slippers…….or ladies!  The images I found with a search for that, ended up with some beautiful plants, but I uncovered nothing that looks like my plant.

Anyone have any insights on this plant for me?
